Rug Repair & Restoration in Boca Raton, FL

A frayed fringe or a small hole doesn’t mean a rug is finished. We rebuild rugs by hand at our own Boca plant — the same place they are washed — so the fix follows the weave instead of masking it.

Small now, or big later

Why does a small tear get expensive if you wait?

A rug comes apart from its edges inward. The end knots are held in place by the fringe and the side cords; once those surrender, the pile beside them has nothing to anchor it and begins to walk off the rug one row at a time.

Caught early, a loosening fringe or a fraying edge is a quick, contained repair. Left through another season of traffic in a busy Boca household — and the sandy grit tracked in from the beach only speeds the wear — that same edge becomes lost knots that must be rewoven, far more work and far more cost.

Small damage caught now costs a fraction of the reweave it becomes later.

So when we notice early wear during a cleaning inspection, we point it out — not to upsell you, but because a stitch today spares a reweave tomorrow.

By hand, at the bench

Repaired the way it was made

Every repair is worked by hand with a needle and matched yarn — the very techniques the rug was built with. Nothing is glued, taped, or handed to an outside workroom.

Done in-house

What kinds of repairs are done by hand?

Fringe Repair & Replacement

Those end tassels are the warp threads of the foundation itself surfacing, not decorative trim. We anchor a loosening fringe or rebuild one that’s gone, keeping the end knots locked where the weave depends on them.

Side & Edge Overcasting

The side cords absorb the punishment from vacuums and furniture legs. We re-wrap and re-anchor worn edges by hand before the pile alongside them starts to let go.

Hole Repair & Reweaving

Matched wool is knotted back into a hole or a burn one knot at a time, tracing the original pattern so the mend disappears into the design instead of sitting on top of it as a patch.

Moth Damage

Moths feed on wool from the back, out of sight. We treat the infestation, then reweave the grazed and eaten patches back to full, even pile.

Dry Rot

A rug left damp on tile — a real risk in coastal Boca — can rot at the foundation until it cracks. We gauge how far it has spread and rebuild the sound sections still worth saving.

Resizing & Restoration

A rug can be carefully shortened or narrowed to fit a room, and a tired antique brought back with full restoration — always weighed against what the rug is truly worth.

Keep it off the bench

How can I keep my rug out of the repair shop?

A few small habits carry most of the load. Turn the rug a couple of times a year so one path doesn’t soak up all the wear, and use a proper pad beneath it — it stops the rug sliding and cushions the foundation against the hard stone and tile floors so common in Boca homes.

Water is the real enemy: blot spills the moment they happen and never leave a rug damp, since the ocean humidity off Boca’s coast turns lingering moisture into rot and mildew. Vacuum with a light touch too, steering the beater bar clear of the fringe, where the unraveling almost always starts.

The honest part

Would you warn me if a repair isn’t worth it?

Yes — plainly. Some rugs are worth far more than any repair costs, and some are worth less than the hours a proper fix would take. We’ll tell you which one yours is before you spend anything at all.

An honest rug hand will steer you away from a repair as quickly as toward one.

When a rug holds genuine sentimental value, the decision is yours to make — only you’ll be making it with the real cost and the realistic outcome in front of you, not a sales pitch.
